Happy Halloween from All of Us at Chicago’s Spa Space!
There are some people who seem to like Halloween more than Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve – combined. (The next time you’re in downtown Chicago for a massage or facial at Spa Space, see if you can spot our own Halloween superfan.)
A client who has been coming to our Chicago day spa for ages was in last week and she had an excellent idea: Maybe we should all just start to think of Halloween as the start of the holiday season. That way, instead of getting upset about the fact that the Christmas displays are already up, we could all just have more time to be festive.
We like the way she thinks (and since she thinks we you can get the best massages in Chicago at Spa Space, she is obviously a woman of taste and intelligence!).

While we’re all waiting for the idea of an extended holiday season to catch on, we thought you might like to make the most of Halloween in Chicago here and now.
We turned to Choose Chicago®, which is the official destination marketing organization for the beautiful city of Chicago, Illinois, for some fun ways to celebrate Halloween. They had some great suggestions, including these three FREE events:
Arts in the Dark
Oct. 19, 2019 | 6 – 8 p.m.
State Street from Lake to Van Buren
This artistic nighttime parade features large-scale puppets, costumed performers, elaborate floats, and luminous lanterns for a surreal evening in downtown Chicago. The city’s creative community, including renowned institutions like the Art Institute of Chicago and Lookingglass Theatre Company, combine forces to produce this annual Halloween parade.
Spooky Zoo

Lincoln Park Zoo, 2001 N. Clark St.
Lincoln Park Zoo offers a fun and safe way for kids to trick-or-treat in the heart of the city with Spooky Zoo. This annual event draws more than 25,000 families who gather treats as they wander around animal habitats that are home to lions, gorillas, polar bears, and more. The event is held during the zoo’s five-weekend Fall Fest celebration, which offers Ferris wheel rides, a corn maze, a pumpkin patch with professional carvers and animal-themed activities.
Northalsted Halloween Parade

Halsted from Belmont to Brompton
The Northalsted Halloween Parade, ranked one of the 10 Best Halloween Celebrations in the U.S. by Fodor’s Travel, is held in the heart of the Boystown neighborhood. The raucous procession kicks off on Halsted Street at Belmont Avenue with the Chicago Thriller flash mob, a troupe of ghoulish zombies performing the famous dance routine. Join in the dancing or follow the parade to Roscoe Street, where a panel of drag queens will award prizes for the best costumes.
